ISO 9000 Cerification

The Computer Systems and CAD Group of ADA has been recommended for ISO9001: 1994 certification after recent audit by the Certified Auditors.

Pragna Puraskar to Dr. Kota Harinarayana

Dr. Kota Harinarayana, Programme Director of ADA, and a Distinguished Scientist, being honoured with Pragna Puraskar by the Defence Minister Mr. George Fernandes, in Hyderabad on 1-DEC-2001. The Union Minister for Rural Development Mr. Venkaiah Naidu was also present on the occasion.

DRDO Chief Dr. VK. Aatre Receives Award

DRDO Director General, SA to RM Dr. V.K. Aatre, under whose leadership the country's first indigeneous ship-to-ship missile Dhanush was tested two months ago, was on Tuesday presented the prestigious                         "Dr. Y. Nayudamma Memorial award'  for the year 2000 for his contribution to defence research. 

Lifting of curbs may not benefit LCA Programme - Dr. Kota

The country's Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) project may not benefit now from the lifiting of the US sanctions on India,Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) Director Kota Harinarayana said on Tuesday. Most of the work is already over and withdrawal of sanctions will not especially benefit the project now. 

The only apparent  benefit would be that "our  systems, software and other equipment which is lying unused in the US would be brought back to India  at the earliest." The LCA already had 70% of Indigenous element and this would only be increased with more efforts over time despite lifting of the sanctions by the US,  he said.

The sanctions only delayed the project but didn't pose any further serious effects to the LCA project, he added.

Three ADA Scientists Awarded by IETE

A team of Aeronautical Development Agency(ADA) Scientists has bagged IETE Flt, Lt. Tanmaya Singh Dandass Memorial Award, instituted by the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, according to a press release issued by the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.

Mr. R. Srinivasa Rao, Mr. M.P.Reddy and Mr. Ajai Vohra of ADA were selected for their contribution in avionics. The scientists are working on the LCA's avionics system.

Awards

The Aeronautical Society of India has awarded the prestigious Dr. VM. Ghatage Award for the year 2000 to Shri P.N.A.P Rao, Project Director (Systems)

Dr. R.K.Ramanathan, Group Director (C&C), was given a citation for his contributions to Finite Elements with special mention to development of GITA and FINESSE at National conference on Emerging Techniques in Engineering Design and Automation, on 24th Feb, 2001 in Chennai.

Dr. T.N. Prakash, Chief Manager(IT) has been selected for the International Librarians Award by the Special Library Association, USA and invited to receive the same in San Antonio, Texas, USA in June 2001.

Wg. Cdr Rajiv Kothiyal who piloted Light Combat Aircraft on its maiden flight has been awarded "Kirti Chakra" by the President of India in recognition of his contribution to aeronautical development in the country

The Aeronautical Society of India has awarded the "Swarna Jayanthi Award" for the year 2000 to Smt. Padmavathi, Asst. Project Director(Mission Software) for her outstanding contributions to LCA Mission Computer Software

PATENT AWARD

Patent Office, Government of India, awarded Patent for the invitation for "Interactive Triple Display Training Simulator" (ITDTS) to Dr. Kota Harinarayana, PGD (LCA) and Sqn Ldr, B.C.Srikanta (Retd), PD(PMG)
