Dr. Kota Harinarayana, PGD, ADA has been awared Padma Shree for his contribution towards Science, Technology and Aeronautics by Govt. of India.
One positive aspect of the award is that people working on the LCA Project will definetly be encouraged - Dr. Kota said to the Press. |

Republic Day celebrations at ADA

Dr. Kota has flag-hoisted at ADA on the Republic Day and delivered the Republic day address to ADA Employees. He observed that for the hard work and dedication of ADA Employees, I got the award. Eventhough I am not for awards it helps to boost the confidence of ADA employees, HAL, DRDO Labs and other work centres who have
contributed for LCA Programme. We should redicate ourselves with the same spirit and sustained energy to induct LCA in to Airforce . We have flown the TD1 on 4-JAN-2001, we are about to fly the TD2 soon. We need to get ready to fly TD2, PV1 with in this year. We should participate the next year Republic Day celebrations with LCA fly pass the Republic day ceremony. Mrs. Kota has distributed the Prizes to the children of ADA Employees
who participated the drawing competition inview of the Republic Day at various age groups conducted by AEWA ( ADA Employees welfare association). Dr. Upadya, PGD(NPSM)/PD(ST), Chairmen AEWA has presided over the function, Mr. B.D.Singh, FA-to-DGADA, Mr. M.B.Verma, PD(GS), Dr. Shyam Sundar, D(A&C) has also participated the function. All ADA Employees greeted Dr. Kota and shared the moments of joy with Dr. Kota and family. |
National Aeronautical Award by ASI |
Two scientists from ADA, Mr. Sitarama Raju, Scientist and Ex ADA Scientist Wg. Cmdr(Retd) B.B. Misra are selected for the National Aeronautical Society of India (ASI) by Aeronautical Society of India.The awards will be given away at
the annual general body meeting of ASI scheduled to be held on JAN 18, a ASI Press release said on Wednesday. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a certificate. |

India pushes ahead with LCA development |
India's Aeronautical Development Agency(ADA) is studying accelerated development of the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft(LCA) after the US Government lifted sanction on 22 September.India's Gas Turbine Research Establishment is developing the 18,200lb-(18kK) thrust Kaveri engine for production LCAs. The Kaveri was set to power the third LCA prototype later this year, but is not now due to be ready until at least 2004. |

Delivering a talk "Lessons from the LCA programme" at the National Institute of Advanced Studies. Harinarayana said a third plane will be ready by the middle of the year. Final operation clearance
for use of the plane by the Indian Air Force will be obtained by the end of the year 2007. The biggest lesson from the Light Combat Aircraft programme, apart from the technology leap, is the learning of a disciplined, structured process for the creation of a supersonic aircraft,he said. |

No plane of this class (LCA) can built for US $ 700 million.The LCA Project involved an investement of Rs 3000 Crores (US $700 million) and concerted efforts of 17 years.
